Sorrento 18s: Sorrento FC 2 v Perth Glory 2 (Sorrento win 7-6 on pens)

A brilliant performance by Stuart Banks’s men against Perth Glory, saw the 18s advance to the Cup Final.

Glory took the lead but Sorrento equalised in the first half after Kai Matthews dispossessed his man, ran in on goal and fired past the keeper at his near post.

In the second half Oscar Wright broke through and was brought down just outside the area. To every person watching apart from the referee it was an obvious red card, however he only produced a yellow and the defender remained on the pitch.

Nathan Frith curled the resulting free kick into the top corner, a quite brilliant execution and the crowd went wild at the Doyle.

Glory equalised from a penalty late on sending the game into a penalty shoot-out.

It was 4-4 after 5 penalties and it went to sudden death, with goalkeeper Paddy Hughes saving the crucial penalty to make it 7-6 to Sorrento.

Sorrento now play Bayswater in the Final at Dorrien Gardens on Sunday at 10am.

Please come along and support the lads.
